Add content, links, or whatever else at the end of each post in RSS!
Have you ever wanted to add a little bit more to your RSS feed after each post? I know I have!
In fact, I already do as you can see in the image above (and then check out my RSS directly as well)!
Well with this simple and intuitive WordPress Plugin you can! We’ve created this plugin so that you can easily add more content to the end of each post in your reader’s RSS feed such as:
- Links to other blogs and web properties.
- Links to other content, blog posts, and more.
- Links to affiliate marketing, products, services.
- Or just some simple copy that says “Thanks!”
The sky is the limit here! But there’s one more neat feature that you need to know about…
Stop Content and Syndication Theft:

Stop those losers!
One of the biggest challenges that any blogger has is content theft – in other words, someone just copying and pasting your hard work into another blog post or an entirely different blog!
But the smart thieves don’t even waste anytime doing that! They just grab your RSS feed and then syndicate it into other blogs automatically! Doh!
Well, one of the ways to combat this is to add direct links back to the originating source and you can do just that with this WordPress Plugin. You see, we’ve automatically added a link back to the originating blog post so that you can stop content and RSS syndication theft from the get-go.
Done and done.
Ready to download it? Go get it right here!
And don’t forget to check out my other WordPress-related Themes and Plugins as well!

I downloaded and activated. Great tool! Thanks!
sure thing toby!
Great work folks. That’s some truly useful stuff.
wah wah!
Compiled
Love your blog, thanks for the great content!
sure thing clara!
Great plugin! Do you have a way to automatically generate the title of the post that the reader just read? Or do you have to enter it manually each time?
It automatically includes the name of the post and the permalink to the post in the footer in addition to your custom message
.
Awesome!
you are a farmer.
Can I tell the plugin where in my message I want it to put this title/permalink by putting the
sorry… by putting the blockquote cite=”" at a certain point?
it puts it at the bottom.
So it will automatically put the “You just read “Clever Post Title” on “Clever Blog Site.” we only have to put stuff in the Custom RSS Message box on the plugin if we want additional stuff? Like john’s example of ‘I’m using Standard Theme…??
Yes. Exactly.
yup!
By the way, I just downloaded it!
thanks jeff!
Downloading now brother – Standard Theme and Media Temple coming affiliate links soon!
you are killing it.
Great plugin, John – I did notice that after saving a footer message the message box doesn’t remove slashes…
Not sure what you mean. Got an example?
Slashes persist and are encoded so that HTML is supported in RSS readers.
what I mean is that stripslashes() isn’t implemented when it populates the textarea with the saved footer message
the problem with that is that when you save again, it adds more slashes…
I’m getting this too. Every time I save it, it adds more slashes to the code.
should be fixed.
Word up. Just committed a fix. The update will appear in the WordPress dashboard later today.
Another reason I love you guys. Quick fixes! Awesome.
tom is awesome, right? he’s a great partner and an even better friend!
yep – he’s awesome.
I have used RSS Footer plugin for a while now, but did not realize the opportunity for people to steal content through RSS. Makes sense now.
learn something new every day……
Download and installed. Thanks
thanks chad!
I kept wondering about that last tagline at the bottom of your RSS posts… Now it makes sense!Love it – will download ASAP!
Any way you could explain the html tags that are included in the ‘HTML Allowed’ section of the plugin?
what do you mean? you can use a href tags for links and such!
As savvy as I’d like to think I am, I don’t understand those tags…
sad!
here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_primary.asp
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_elements.asp
for example, i can do this:
You should subscribe!
see the image of it here……
http://cl.ly/5sPg
Ok… so I know this will also make you sad, but I can follow what I would do to input the same link into each post… but I’m still unsure of exactly which tag to use to input the changing link to the blog post that they’ve just read. Please help (like showing the actual tags you’ve used in yours would be super helpful!)
I might not know much about this… but at least I’m not running screaming in the other direction! In other news… I’m spending so much time here at Tentblogger I was wondering if I should just move in?!
hehe!
you shouldn’t have to input any tag for link to the post.
Ah yes, I’ve worked that out! Would love to customise the message a little… thought I found the right part of code to do so… but instead I broke it
How do I customise the standard message you’ve written into the plugin?
you’ll edit this php file:
tentblogger-rss-footer.php
and near the end you’ll edit this area:
http://cl.ly/7mbU
Pretty sweet.
A preview below the textbox would be killer.
hmm. that would be dope…
Just a heads up, the link within the plugin is broken. That is, once it has been installed in wordpress the message says, “Read more about the plugin here.” It directs to tentblogger.com/add-rss-feed instead of tentblogger.com/add-rss-footer
thanks! we’ll fix this.
This is pretty epic guys. Thanks for all the work you’re doing to make the web a better, beautiful, and more honest place!
sure thing graham!
appreciate it, Graham
Just as another side note. I don’t have the top horizontal line that you used. Did you create a hr item in custom.css? If so, do you mind sharing your settings?
Never mind. I inspected your feed code and found it. I hope it is okay to share it just in case anyone else wants it:
hr {
display: block;
margin: 0.5em auto;
border-style: inset;
border-width: 1px;
}
you sir are so enterprising!
I’m not so enterprising. I cannot actually get the line to show up. Where did you put the hr tag?
ah, we’ll have to add that ability since putting the br tag right now puts it below the first copy of text.
look for an update soon!
Has this update been released? I’ve been trying to get the same thing on mine. Unfortunately, without a horizontal rule the message runs into my content and looks a little confusing.
Thanks John! (or Tom)
jared,
been a bit backed up (i’m on vacation right now..).
Just pushed an update for this. It’ll show up in your plugins dashboard as soon as WP pushes it out.
word up. thanks tom.
Awesome! You guys are great. Thanks Tom.
Oh my word! Thank you so much for this. I have been looking & waiting & hoping you would do a post on this. As soon as I get to the place where I get a strong enough connection, this is going to be added to my arsenal of plug-ins. It is greatly appreciated!
sure thing dave!
Hi John,
I have added plugin and sounds like a great one again. How do I view it to make sure I’ve done it right, and it’s working?
you can just take a look at your feed!
Hey John! Have you ever posted a link with all of the plug-ins you use or recommend? That would be HUGELY helpful to a WordPress newby like me!
jason,
i’m working through most of them…! i’ll have to share that soon.
Do you have the ability to put an image in the footer with this plugin?
yeah. you can use html tags.!
make sure you get a gravatar ~~~> http://tentblogger.com/gravatar/
Weird. I thought I had one.
doh!
I’m kinda late to this particular party, I had some catching up to do on your blog, but once again it’s been very useful. Unfortunately, I’ve had an unpleasant encounter with content theft yet, so I’ll be sure to use this!
you should use it even before you have content theft!
Hi, John and Tom,
I just installed the RSS, which is the only plugin that I found that could do this simple, but so powerful task. The thing is that when I look at my posts, I don’t see anything at the bottom, even though the page says that everything is fine. Does the line only shows for posts created AFTER the installation? Or should the old posts show the line and there something wrong? Thanks.MM
It won’t display on your blog, only in an RSS reader or email subscription. It will start displaying for new posts.
thanks graham!
I like this RSS footer plugin. Can you give your secret for the RSS comment link and share links? You have them located under this RSS Footer placement.
ah, i’ve added those via a customized plugin. i’m going to release this one…!
Oh, thank you, dear John. I look forward to implementing it.
Thank you for this. Simple and efficient! I’ve a small suggestion: Could you remove the exclamation points so if the title of my post ends in a question mark, it will not look like “….?!” (I think this is something in you plugin code, but if I can fix it on my own, just let me know.)
Tracy
you can edit that in the plugin code if you’d like.
Awesome! Thanks for making this so quick and easy. I love learning new blogging tricks!
sure thing!
Oh, man. I searched for HOURS this afternoon looking for a plugin that would do exactly this. I want to put a thank you message and a suggestion right aboVE the comment area, with my profile pic next to it in a neat little box. Just like yours on this post. Perfect!
I guess I must not have used the right search terms. But I did find your site by searching for an easy sitemap plugin. That one was so cool I just had to check out the rest of your plugins. Can’t wait to try some of them!
~ Milli
milli,
awesome! welcome! there’s a lot here…!
Nice work…:)
thanks!
I just modified your plugin to show my custom fields in the RSS footer.
Do you have a plugin that does that without my bodged hacks?
nope! good for you though..!
Thanks John, this is plugin which i was searching for thank you
sure thing!
This plugin is exactly what I was looking for – thank you!
Quick question, though — I noticed that the link back to the post at the bottom of the feed uses the default permalink structure (?p=####) rather than the sitewide permalink structure.
I know it still works, but it’s less than ideal, since it requires the additional redirect. Is there an easy way to change this?
Thanks!
we could change this. let me think about it.
Hi, I’m considering using this plugin, that looks really good, and was just wondering if you’ve decided on doing the permaling mod or not? It would greatly improve the overall experience imho. Thanks again in any case!
i’ve been super-busy with development projects so this has hit a backburner for a bit.
Taking a look at the plugin for RSS Feeds you have for WordPress and so I dropped bye for a moment. Great Product
sure thing! share with others!
Hello John,
I don’t know what’s the problem with my feed, but my site’s default feed is showing recent comments instead of recent posts when I try to comment on CommentLuv blogs. What do I do?
Great plugin! I just installed it.
Well explained and really informative article.
Exactly what am looking for
I am loving your blog bro
