Let me be frank and very honest – blogging about Google Adsense is dry and somewhat boring. In fact, it’s been somewhat of a drain on my passion for a bit because it’s simply not the most exciting thing to talk about!
Sure, making your blog more financially solvent is, and should be, very exciting, but blogging through some of this content can be very un-stimulating, if that makes sense.
Numbers, placements, CTR, location, design, rates… bleh!
But here’s the lesson to be learned: That there are ups and downs of your blogging efforts and you will inevitably encounter times of dryness with your writing, perhaps even severe bouts of feeling empty in terms of your passion, content development, and inspiration.
I’ve mentioned that it can be very lonely too!
But don’t stop! As some of the members of the community forums are learning (especially for BlogX participants) you have to burn through the tough times because that’s just what they are: Tough times, that aren’t forever, just for a moment that won’t last forever.
I’m not super-passionate about Adsense, especially blogging about it, but I know that it’s providing value for my readers and those interested in taking their blogging efforts to the next level. I hope it’s been helpful and I hope I can offer you encouragement to you as you face periods of “blogging tedium” – they are coming but you can get through it!
And don’t worry, I’ll finish out my series on Google Adsense – it is a great series! Love you guys, let’s do this!

Great timing on this. Also, love the “whining” image. That’s how I feel sometimes.
I’m glad you are continuing it, because it is a series I am really enjoying. Adsense is an area I have a lot of questions about, and you are answering them. Thanks!
good stuff bro. any specifics i can help with?
Primarily I had questions about placement and increasing CTR.
Also, do you ever use text ads of any sort?
i do. just below the content layer. you see it?
To be honest i haven’t read a lot of your latest posts because they where all about Google’s Adsense.
I just can’t stand it,
Maybe some people make great profits working with it, very nice for those people but it’s not my game of earning money!
BJ,
Totally understand. I get it! I’ll have to add some more content to flush out this other stuff…
John, I understand that writing about Adsense is not as enjoyable as other themes, but be sure that this series is extremely relevant for lots of us. Thank you!
sure thing cris! thanks for the encouragement!
Glad to hear this is only a series. Definitely useful information, but its dry to read not just to write.
ah. yes… yes… …. z…
It might not be the easiest topic to write about but it is definitely a great series. Keep up the good work!
i will chris! i’ll get through it!
That picture is priceless and tells the whole story.
I’ll be quite honest with you, since you have always been honest with us: I really can’t stand reading adsense blog posts either.
Believe me, it’s great to have and tackle this series, mainly because this is an extremely valuable and pervasive tool to monetize the blog. Other than that, ugh. . . . I grew an animosity for reading it.
It’s like reading a dull chapter in school: You have to know it, it will be on the quiz, and overall a smart choice to understand the material.
Good point in mentioning that sometimes certain topics will be dry, but it must be overcome.
junhax,
LOVE IT. thanks for your honesty. BRING IT.
dude, from the looks of your picture on this one it looks really painful… please blog your passion!! (i’m not all that into the Adsense stuff either)
I’m not reading much of it, but it will be a handy tool when I decide to get serious about adsense (not enough traffic yet to really delve into it). Right now, I’m focusing on content (like you recommend).
By the way, @Chris, your avatar looks like the tengblogger favicon.
haha. that’s pretty funny.
It is certainly helpful to guys like me. Inspired by your posts I am on the verge of making my first bit of earnings from Google. Ever since I started reading and putting some of the things you have said into practice my earnings have doubled.
just enough to give me hope
yikes! that’s ………. AWESOME!
It may be dry and tedious for you but think about all the wisdom and insight your readers are getting. Sometimes I read your series and feel like I’m getting a college education and I love it. Thank you for your hard work.
sure thing stephanie!
This series should be called something silly and outrageous like ’20 ways to increase your advertising revenue from the most boring adsense blog series ever ‘
Dry and tedious the series may feel, but your level of detail on this kinda stuff John is really good! keep it up!
thanks steve…! i need this encouragement (and the good laugh).
thanks for that!
