Ahh!

There have been a few people who have asked me what a “Day in the Life of…” really looks like for me.

Well, I’ll get to that post in a bit but the above video is a pretty telling snapshot of what my days are like right now!

A combination of writing and feeding and/or getting @Arden to sleep! I love being a full time blogger (and a full time dad)!

Thanks to my good friend Chris who was able to capture this moment for all internet eternity! He also created and edited this clip, so throw sticks at him if you have a sec!

If you were to give me a snapshot of what your typical day looks like then what would that be?

John

So that how you do it?

Look after my 15 month daughter during the day and she always trying to “help” me when I’m online or working. Does he not wake up though when you type with your left hand?

    Anyway brilliant!

  2. Strangely similar to yours with the exception that mine weighs about 30 lbs (18 months) and would never lay still long enough to make that video :-) . Oh and there’s two more where he came from(9 and 5), constantly wanting me to play. Can you imagine? Kids want ME to play? I’ve tried setting them up WordPress accounts, but they’re not interested. One day!

  3. You’ve inspired me.

My 2 and 4yr old end up on my lap so often when I’m posting. It’s easy to feel annoyed, but when you think about how quick they grow-up …

  4. I’m my google reader the video was ‘The Truth about Bears’ that video that Bryan Allain made…not sure why. When I clicked through to the site though it was the right video.

  5. That is awesome! I have yet to master the “blog-while-holding-baby” move with my 5 week old. I usually end up trying to type with one hand and that never works.

    Impressive. Most impressive.

It’s hard to give an accurate snapshot of my days since my routine has been anything but since we became a family of four, but it would surely include me not sleeping. That’s always part of my days (and nights). ;-)

The first year of my daughter’s life I was a work from dad as well. Enjoy these times because they grow way to fast!

  7. SO sweet! I tend to “lock” my kids upstairs (4yo and 2.5yo) while I’m “working,” but I fondly remember the days of baby and blog.

  8. That is awesome. And what a head of hair the little one’s got! Keep up the good work.

  9. Awesome. Thanks for sharing John. Inspiring.

  10. This is great, John! I’ve been there. It’s comfortable at first, but as they get heavier, it slows you down. Keep rotating arms or you’ll build up a massive forearm on one side. ;)

I’m in an office now because of the small size of our home (1,200 feet is tough to work in with three kids, 6 and under) but that will change in a few months when we move to CO.

  11. That may be the best video I’ve seen all week. Well, maybe a close tie with this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4JaDYjJupo (from another friend of mine).

  12. Lol!! Awesome video. :)

  13. Sweet! Great re-blog. Big smile. When the kids grow up and move out, it’s much harder to get them to sleep idyllically on Dad’s lap.

  14. Awesome. Not much more to say.

  15. Thanks for sharing. It’s wonderful to see individuals who are creating their perfect reality. Super dad and super job!

    All the best,
    Jeanne

  16. AWWW! Now that makes me want to have kids :p :) (ok take it easy me) :)

  17. Wow, that baby has more hair than my two-year old (27 months) and six month-old combined. I know you’re proud.

  18. Oooooh, love the two-handed typing – nice that she’s getting rocked a little bit in the process. :) And – impressive swaddle!
