My youngest staying warm in a very, very cold world.

Watching her and her older sister grow up is like watching myself in very many neat (and disturbing) ways.

  1. John, I know I don’t know you, but I am going to write like I do.

My oldest two kids are off at college. My youngest two kids are still home.

The anniversary of my middle son’s death is next week.

Seeing me in their eyes, in their lives, in their hopes and in their dreams is humbling.

Watching my two older kids spread their proverbial wings with the freedom that college brings is odd. One is shining makes me feel uber successful.

The other one (who is must like me) apparently needs to learn everything the hard way.

The two at home have hopes and dreams – like I did – that are so fanciful I know that they may not happen. They could, but probably won’t.

The don’t yet know the older kids know… They are still innocent.

It is so humbling to balance these two sets of kids.

    John, enjoy them.

As cliche as it sounds, they grow up fast.

It is still super fantastic, but it is different….
