great stuff tim!
This assignment was timely. I was considering a few topics when my RSS reader showed your new post. Here is what I came up with:
http://www.pulpit2pew.com/2627/no-fish-in-the-aquarium/
your title was really intriguing… i had to go read it!
i have TONS of “empty fishtanks” in my life. thanks for the kick in the pants.!
Thanks for the encouragement. Still not sure what to write on, but my mind is working. Thanks!
Hi Jeff, Then start writing about that…”not having anything to write about.” Start there. Talk about the blocks and the barriers, and compare it to an object on your desk, or a time in your life when you were stuck. Sounds crazy, but that’s the point. When you can’t move forward, back your way into it!
back your way into it? i like that.!
and…..? anything yet?!
I decided to write on three areas that I love: youth ministry, leadership and creation. Now I’m wondering if that is too diverse. My mind questions too much, I know..
Cool! I’ll have to think about this more after work!
By the way, have you guys ever thought about creating a [writing] portfolio theme based on Standard? I know as a writer I’ve often been frustrated looking for themes. Most of the portfolio themes out there seem more geared toward photographers and graphic artists. Just a thought!
talk to me more about this…… what would the theme have? give me some deets…. you’ve got my brain thinking!
In all actuality, I think it would have many similarities to a photographer’s portfolio, but with some tweaks. In the photo theme I saw from you, the images were very large. It would be cool if there was a way to display small images of the covers or documents or work, sort of like a gallery. And then you could click each document and view it in its entirety. And maybe have the front page designed to look more like a website, more static feeling, with page functionality where the portfolio could be displayed. But because it would have the look and feel of Standard, it could easily be integrated into an existing blog that uses Standard theme. I would probably simply link to my existing blog in the sidebar, or something along those lines.
I’m kind of all over the place, just thinking about it, so I hope that made some sort of coherent sense!
meg. i’m almost interested in trying to create something like this….. i’m going to think about it…….!
Awesome. I think this would be a GREAT resource, especially for freelance writers who are trying to market themselves. You rock John!
Well, it isn’t a creative writing piece, but your post did make me think about becoming more active in my postings. http://billcarrington.com/?p=116
great! i’m glad i could encourage you!
Here’s my creative post, John…

i’m thinking of a lot of “foggy” areas in my life… and i don’t mind it so much. it kind of creates some excitement!

Well, that was the kick in the behind that I needed to get writing again! Thanks John. Here is the link to my latest piece. Not stimulated by an object, but a sound.

“am i quick to accept god’s probing?” … no! working on it!
Wow it’s late. Couldn’t sleep so I figured I’d tackle this one. I really didn’t even know where I was going with it, but this was tons of fun!

OMG. i love that pic!
Thanks for the idea for creative writing. I completed mine and you can see it here: http://ronlane.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/tap-into-your-creativity/. This is something that is a little out of norm for my blog, but you can’t discount the creative process that it allowed me. I even have part of my next 2 blogs ready for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks,
Ron
sweet! great stuff ron!
Thanks.
Better late than never!

Hi John,
Just wanted to let you know this writing assignment, which I watched a couple weeks ago, inspired this post: http://airo-cross.blogspot.com/2011/01/husbands-love-your-wives.html
Amazing what a photo on the ol’ cubicle wall can do! Thanks bro!
Thanks for this great read (and great reminder). Thanks Justin!
