Emotionally-Tied Products

Sometimes I launch products which I have very little invested emotionally; and deployment is as emotionless as eating dry corn flakes.

There are others where it comes as close to “giving birth” as any male will ever come (or as close as I can tell in my extremely large bucket of ignorance). I think the latter was experienced recently.

I’m exhausted.

It can be very dangerous to tie oneself to a product launch. Sometimes it’s just inevitable. But, it can also be extremely rewarding.

  1. True Word man…it can be super dangerous, but very rewarding.

  2. NPOnline?

you know after giving birth, many new mothers sit in the hospital for a few days and sleep. Maybe they're smart…

  3. I know the feeling and love those projects

  4. love the rush, crave the rest, want more of the rush

  5. Milk engine? :p

  6. But ya know dude, I don't know ya but this post above is why I love following you. People who go for it are the best people to know because they carry the vision and get it done. I look forward to connecting with you more at some point.

  7. John, it's only dangerous when you begin to find your identity from the product you've developed. Been there done that, and yeah it's extrememly dangerous. All products have an End of Life.

Just remember, you're not John the guy who developed that really big thing on the web that could reach thousands. You are John the guy that God loved so much that he sent his only son to die in your place just so you could have a relationship with him.

As long as you remember that, get in there and ride the wave. You don't get a limitless amount of these times in your life, so you might as well hang on tight and enjoy the rush while it lasts.
