There’s really only one thing worth talking about this week in the world of technology and that is the iPhone 5. The question of the day (and of the week as it opens for pre-orders this Friday) is whether or not you’ll be getting one.
The answer is simple for myself and my wife as we’ve been waiting for quite some time. We both decided to skip the iPhone 4S and stick with our iPhone 4 through the most recent release.
To be honest, skipping a generation wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be but I’m definitely ready for the 5! I won’t be standing in line – I’ll be ordering it in 2 days.
So what about you? What are you the most excited about? For us it’s just a faster experience as it’s been super-sluggish on the 4. Yes, accessing our mail and Twitter 3-5 seconds faster matters.

I’ll be getting one.
For some reason, I’m not that excited about it. Sure, smaller cable, slightly bigger, but I definitely won’t be rushing out to grab it.
I probably will upgrade in April, 2013 when my contract is due, but definitely not exciting enough to sign up now and have to replace all my accessories.
My wife needs a phone. So I will probably get her one.
It’s a yes from me! It will be a huge upgrade from my iPhone 3GS.
YES! I want it. No, I won’t be getting one. We waited and got the cheap 8GB iPhone 4 for $99 when the 4S was released last fall. We’ll be on board for the 5S next year
.
Have fun! Fully expect an unboxing video and review when it arrives.
Maybe next year. Not enough additions to justify a jump from my 4S. Though the 1080p camera and A6 chip makes it tempting. You know what doesn’t make it tempting? Those awful looking headphones.
My wife may choose one. She’s ready for an upgrade. I’m switching back to Android.
When are you going to post about tentblogging again?
not sure what you mean.
I got my first iPhone when the 4s was released. I would love the 5, but will delay.
What is most interesting to me about the 5, in addition to the size of the screen, is the improvement to the camera. I love taking photos with my 4s and the camera improvements make the 5 tempting.
If I could get the upgrade at a reasonable price, I might be tempted to sell my 4s and go for it.
Yes…but mostly because I got sauce on my 4 at Firehouse Subs.
I will buy it. I love my 4S but I could really make use of the LTE.
Run a website devoted to iDevices and I will be passing on it. Not impressed with the look – it’s kind of fugly. Unless someone buys it for me lol
Unless my employer springs for it, I won’t get one. Personally, I’m not too excited about it. I explain all that here – http://wp.me/p1aciG-ai
I also skipped the 4S and will definitely be getting iphone 5 in mid October when my AT&T contract is up. Hellooo Verizon!
Honestly, I have to say that it seems rather hypocritical of you to be pushing the latest Apple product on your blog in the wake of the Apple/Samsung lawsuit.
The Apple/Samsung lawsuit was at its core, about some of the issues you have talked about on your blog. But at the end of the day, instead of blogging about these issues and whether the verdict was biased or may have opened a door that will allow other companies to hold possibly frivolous patents, you just want to talk about getting the latest toy.
Hmmmm.
Maybe I missed it, but what issues has John talked about that relate to the Apple/Samsung lawsuit?
An anonymous troll by any other name (“cc”) is still a troll.
Man, I used to think I wanted to be as famous of a blogger as poor Mr. Saddington.
Sorry to see John getting mistreated by readers like this. He poured every ounce of energy he had into post after post about blogging, SEO and such; sometimes multiple times per day. Poor guy can’t take a break and write about other subjects.
Frankly, people who get on here and bad mouth the man, then aren’t even brave enough to leave their real name deserve to be ignored by the man.

My iPhone contract has been up for a year but I wanted to skip the 4S so I could get the 5. I like the every other year pattern I am on. I had the 3G then the 4 now the 5. Works for me!
Well, said, James!
I’m a little cautious about buying it (I tend to research for days, even weeks on a product costing over $100 before buying it). I need to see more reviews. However, it is an iPhone, and I love my iPhone 4, not to mention my other Apple products. So I will probably like it – if I owned it.
My birthday is tomorrow and my wife was going to take my to the Apple store tonight to get one. But we just got the email that they won’t be available for another week. Talk abut a major let down.
I am not getting one just yet
maybe later this year
I JUST upgraded to the new iPad…so I think I may have to hold off on the 5 for a few months. My wife can only take so much of my tech envy!
For me the iPhone 5 is a MustHaveNeed product. hahaha. I got my iPhone 4 on launch day two and a half years ago! I a most excited about the processor and camera upgrade. I’m sure I will enjoy a larger screen, but it was not a big factor for me. The processor is a big deal because, as with previous releases of iOS, older phones start lagging a lot. Have we heard anything about how apps designed for the 4″ screen will run on the current size screen?
I present iphone to my cousin brother on his last birth day & he ie very happy with iphone.
I’m still using a 3Gs that is SLOOOOOOOOOW. And my speaker quit working back in February. So my phone has been on silent/vibrate since then. It won’t ring or give text message alerts. And my kids can’t play games w/ any sounds (#firstworldproblems).
So I plan to get the 5.
i cannot wait for LTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
