Just Because I Think IE 6.0 Sucks Doesn’t Mean I Think You Suck

It just means that I really don’t like IE 6.0.

But apparently a lot of you still do, since about 5% of you still view my blogs with it.

Can I suggest an “upgrade”? Try FireFox. It just works.

And don’t worry, I won’t install this WordPress Plugin.

  1. When I view at work, it's with IE but I don't know what version. I can ask the IT guys for an update but who knows if they'll answer.

  2. hehe. it's all good. i'm not mad. i just find it funny.

    :)

  3. Firefox all the way over IE. Took me a long time to switch but cannot believe I waited as long as I did now.

  4. i forgot about IE. I haven't used it for 3 or 4 years

  5. good. it's good to forget about lameness.

  6. you should install the plug-in….it's your duty to alert people to the fact they are using a browser which is about 8 years old!!

Now what i hate about this situation is that if people are NOT on Windows XP (poor souls) then they cannot upgrade. But that's no reason for them to not "try" one of the newer browsers. Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Chrome are all leaps and bounds better then IE6, even IE7 is a minor update and hopefully IE8 will finally bring them towards standards compliance…

Sorry to preach but i deal with this every day, so i'm just a tad bit bitter :-)

  7. puaha. cold hearted @#!!@$!$ hehe.

  8. I have recently switched to Firefox because Safari was hogging the CPU and crashing when I was writing critical emails.
    How does it know this?
Also had problems with Intense Debate logins, but since Firefox that has gone away.

  9. Good discussion! I'm using ie7.0, (came on the machine) downloaded foxfire (still looking at it), but, I still think the Microsoft startup is a great American success story! (I work for one of the partners)

  10. when firefox first arrived i was cautious, especially since firefox had memory leak problems, however now i have switched i wont go back. i have also been trying the new google chrome browser. also from a web design point of view it is a nightmare to get IE to display things the way that they should due to it not being web standard. always have to find workarounds and hacks

  11. I have to suffer at work because they code so many pages to be IE-specific.

Boy, did they get pissed when I installed IE Tabs for Firefox. I suppose it was only a matter of time before they were able to find a function that would break that add-on and some of us were back to loading IE in the mornings. :(

  12. dude. it's me when i read from work (as i am doing right now). corporate america does not know how to evolve! :T

  13. I really do detest IE love (See hate ) posts. It certainly shows a lack of insight into anything other than bandwaggoning. And exposes the main reason why web developers are not developers at all. More like belly achers.
