Bloggers: Do More with Others and Less Alone!

I was reminded this past week that it is incredibly valuable to partner with others in all things, not just blogging and business.

For myself, I must constantly “beat down” my desire to be independent and instead rely on others to fill in my weak spots when it comes to being the most effective with the limited amount of time that we have during the week (and our lives!).

I want to challenge all of you to think seriously about how you can partner with others more intimately so that you can go further-faster than you could on your own!

Have a great rest of the day and an incredible week! I’ll see you guys around the blogs!

I completely agree! Thanks for the reminder about how we are generally ‘better together.’ in fact, my wife has wanted to blog and write for some time, but as we just had our first child, she doesn’t have a ton of time to spare, so she started a blog with two of her best friends!

If anyone wants to see the beginning stages of their work, they are at http://www.lemontree3.com

Thanks for reminding us that we really can’t be our best when we’re an island unto ourselves!

Great advice. Something I have to constantly push myself to do…I tend to want to go it alone on so many things. Thanks for the reminder.

      Randy,

I’m with in that I always want to do it alone because I want it to be meet my expectations. But, the thing is the more people you have working with you that all have similar energy/drive your expectations will still be met only faster.

John, I really do need to find people to help me with my venture of creating a network of sites. Thanks for inspiring me to begin thinking about getting others aboard.

I’ve been having a great weekend even though winter weather is coming to Iowa (I want to move away).

      Best, Derek

I’d love to find other bloggers to work with. If anyone here wants to get together and do something (including you, John!), let me know.

Just a little background on me: I write mostly about WordPress and blogging, I have a background in web design and development (especially as it relates to WordPress), I’m devoutly Christian (aspiring to Orthodoxy.) If anyone relates to any of these things, I’m definitely open to partnership.

Just to throw something out there as a possible partnership project, I have a 90-day blogging course that needs updating. It’s all set up, membership plugins, affiliate plugins, videos made. But when I came up with it I handled everything pretty much alone and I think it would be beneficial (to me and to anyone who wants to use it) to make it a partner project or a group project. It needs updated and expanded constantly (especially since I made it before WP 3.0). Besides selling subscriptions to the course, I was also planning on using it as an incentive for people to sign up for my WordPress hosting service. Partners on the project could use it for similar purposes.

Obviously, that’s not the only way to take things and I’m open to any other suggestions. I’d really like to work with others!

    Great post, John!

Independent thinker + likes to control things = me me me. :)

Love to take doing this all together to a higher level. How can we do it?

Virtual meet ups via teleconference line?
    Tentblogger bible studies?
Forums listing projects and how we might help each other (give, not take)?
    Eventual physical meet ups?

    • John Saddington November 16, 2010 at 12:34 AM #

bible studies…………. yikes! meetups. yes. forums… yes.

Loners are…well….alone. Who want’s that? Plus, it is boring all by yourself.

I think by nature entrepreneurs are independent. Not in a bad way. And they are leaders. When you mix the leader and the entrepreneur you get that taste of “freedom” that lets you set your own course and beat your own drum. But utimimately, who wants to beat a drum all by themselves. Being part of a band is always better. The band definetely creates a better “sound” and “creativity” can become endless. We need to find a band to play on. I’m in.

    • John Saddington November 16, 2010 at 12:35 AM #

i like my little band. :)

the freedom you speak of is great!

I have to admit I like doing things on my own. but this year I organized my church to buy some gifts for some inner city kids, and we gave gifts to 39 kids. If I had done it alone, I guess it would have been only one lucky kid.

    • John Saddington December 24, 2010 at 9:08 AM #

i have to remind myself of this constantly. it’s tough!
