All TentBlogger Plugins Updated for WordPress 3.2!

July 5, 2011 — 43 Comments

With the recent release of Gershwin Update (WordPress v3.2) we’ve experienced a significant update the core admin UI, which I’ve found is very visually appealing (don’t you agree?).

There are more than a few blogs that have showcased and shared their thoughts on the new admin panel so I won’t go into the changes in-depth although I would like to mention that the full-screen focus-mode is killer.

In fact, I’m using it right not to just test it out! I can imagine that a lot of people might opt to use this out of the box instead of the many focused-writing apps that are available (my favorite being iA Writer).

Although I still counsel people not to write in WordPress directly since you still risk the potential of losing your writing efforts and data.

So sexy!

But, that’s not what this particular blog post is about – you see, if you’re using a number of my WordPress Plugins then you’ll will have noticed a global update for all of them!

Consolidated UI Menu!

One of the biggest updates is a consolidated menu system to house all of them together – pretty sweet, right?

This way it could play nicely with the new admin UI and save you even more space in your admin panel.

We try to keep it as clean as possible so that your writing efforts are at maximum!

Of course, shoutout goes to @MoreTom for helping me do the global update – that guy is the freaking man…!

Hope all is well and that you’re enjoying the new WordPress v3.2 update! In fact, would love to hear what you love specifically about Gerschwin!

Have a great publishing week all!

John

  1. Hey John,

Upgraded this morning and after all the Tentblogger plugins updated I got a bunch of errors that have now vanished so I can’t tell you what they were. But what has also vanished are all the Tentblogger plugins AND their functionality. If I search for them to reinstall they state they’re already installed. Got ideas on the fix?

  2. Considering trying a reinstall of WordPress 3.2

the 3.2 UI is DOPE! And I love the Tentblogger menu in the sidebar

I just bought iA Writer, but it’s nice to now have the full screen function in WP now

Lovin’ me some WP and Tentblogger!

  4. John, you (and Tom) are awesome!

  5. Love the new Tentblogger menu! Great addition. :)

  6. Next: TentBlogger icon!

John’s cartoon face looking at us from our WP Admin! – LOL!

    3.2 is slick!

  8. I’ll admit, I’m a little scared about updating {blush}. 2 updates ago, it messed with the categories function so that my homepage and RSS feed was swamped with a category I didn’t want to go in there. I’ve also read of people who could no longer upload photos etc after the last update.

Call me cautious, but I’ll be waiting a couple of weeks and scanning the email alert for all instances of “WordPress 3.2 problem” and “WordPress 3.2 Thesis update”.

But then again, I am quite curious – I may update just to see what happens :-)

    Hey guys,

Everything went well with the upgrade to 3.2 and the upgrade of the TB plugins. But I have a question about the 3.2 upgrade and posts…

The paragraph format is not there by default. They have converted paragraphs to divs. I have to highlight the text and change the format to Paragrah…

Any idea what happened or how to default to paragraph mode?

  10. Hi John,

I know you touched on this previously but could you revisit the advice you gave?

What is the optimum number of WP plugins that a blog can have? I realize there are a couple issues here: #1 – potential conflicts and #2 speed or site and load times.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW I have 10 plugins currently active on my own blog.

    Thanks for your help.

    • you can have anywhere from 10 to 50… but the more you have the more you need to invest in a great server and hosting provider… and optimizing wordpress.

i suggest to keep it under 15 if you can.

  11. John,

You know what would make a good plugin, but which does not exist yet (that I can find)?

A plugin that includes a checkbox below the comment form for people to subscribe to the posts by email. You have a checkbox to subscribe to the comment stream, and a note to subscribe via RSS, but how about a checkbox that, when checked, pulls the email address from the comment form, and uses it to subscribe the person to the Feedburner Feed via email.

There is a plugin (Subscribe 2) which allows people to subscribe to posts via email, but it does not connect with feedburner.

This feature seems to exist on WordPress.com sites… see my friend’s blog to see what I am talking about… fullcontactchristianity.com

  12. Just as a sidenote to my previous comment…

    Yoast did something for Mailchimp.

But it appears that getting Feedburner is more difficult?

  13. Having an issue in IE with this plugin. It is splitting the plugin into separate divs – one div is on the right, and the other one is a paragraph break down and to the left…
