I’m spending the day outside doing some work in this beautiful Atlanta weather – ah, picture perfect.
I’ve got two questions for you that I share in this very quick video:

Yeah I dont know how anyone can work outside unless you have a house on the beach and no one else is around. Hearing the waves seems to relax me enough to be able to focus.
My best location is my desk, but second is my old leather lazy boy recliner great for focusing, that is as long as it’s no reading. I also seem to fall asleep in it when I try to read for a long period of time.
it’s very relaxing… perhaps too relaxing.
Sadly, I’ve yet to find my “spot”. Between my 4 children, and the 4 that I watch, there is precious little space to devote to writing. I’m thinking of rigging a desk in the bathroom.
However, I have found my best time … either between 4 and 6 am or between 10 and 12 pm. Which means I’m in a merciless cycle of lack of sleep and too much coffee.
Your neighborhood looks awesome, btw.
it’s pretty sweet… my wife found us the right spot!
Stuck inside today packing for a move!
Plus it almost hit 100 today in Texas.
A cold front’s coming through tomorrow. I promise I’ll be working outside come Saturday!
packing for a move…?
Working inside today editing my thesis.
If i’m just doing reading or drafting on paper, sometimes I will work in the garden. Not so great for working on my laptop though because the wifi signal isn’t that great and screen glare can be a problem.
yes, the glare can be tough.
I find it harder to work in solitude, so I usually blog from Barnes & Noble … I’m here right now, actually.
Not sure about everyone else, but I think it’s awesome you’re settling into your house and letting us experience it with you digitally, lol.
Just chilling
hey tommy! you rock.
I don’t handle distractions well. I tell everyone I don’t believe in ADD, but I have EVERY symptom for it. I typically have to closet myself away in a quiet area with nothing else for me to do but hammer out my material.
I made a video blog a couple weeks ago about 150 years from a busy road. Yeah… totally got distracted by a semi-truck going by and sort of botched the end of it (it’s not out yet, scheduled to come out 2 weeks from today).
I’m about to go full time self employed come October 7th, I guess the actual first day will be October 8th, but I plan on attempting to check out a couple local coffee shops. I know if I don’t get fairly frequent personal interactions I’ll go crazy.
So I’ll let you know how the experiments go.

sure. how’d it go?
Yes, I find inspiration to write when I am outdoors. I usually end up writing inside, however. Nice neighborhood. Wish I had a porch swing but I think you need a porch first.
We just bought a new outdoor couch for our back patio. That has become my new fav place to think. Works best for me in the early mornings after the kids have scooted off to school. It’s quiet, the sun is peaking over the fence, and all seems calm with the world.
omg. picture?
I LOVE to work outside! It is my absolute favorite and it’s definitely inspirational. We have a beautiful deck off the back of our house that is surrounded by woods and cornfields. It is the perfect place to write- and daydream- which sometimes leads to more writing, sometimes not! I am trying to write outside every chance I get since we live in western New York and these beautiful outdoor days will come to an end all too quickly.
Then I will write cozied up on my couch by my big stone fireplace all winter long.
Yes, I am spoiled. This Cheap Love stuff really works. =)
With my headphones on I can be wherever I want to be.
this is #truth……!
Atlanta guy huh? I knew you were cool. I am from Atlanta and now live in Savannah. Yes I LOVE outdoors. I am a gardening freak so I spend a lot of time outside.
AWESOME! we head towards savannah a lot (hilton head) !
Best place to work tends to be at a local fast food place in town. Inspiration seems best to happen outdoors walking my dog (and for the last 3 days, my friend’s two dogs). My most recent post came courtesy of a recent trek through a county park. Just like in Atlanta, the weather’s been great in the Midwest.
Wow, it does look like it was a beautiful day where you were. Idyllic, calm and sunny. Well, for me, my super comfy location is usually the living room sofa. I just like the way the light enters the room and I love to work over there on my laptop. Otherwise, I just do most of my work from my bedroom.

bedroom? i’ve tried to keep “work” outside of the bedroom.
Haha, that is definitely a fair point, sir. I guess sometimes business does get mixed up with pleasure!
