You’ve already seen me use Screenflow a few times already with my walk-through videos and more!
Honestly, there’s no better screen capture software out there and I am completely satisfied with what Screenflow offers in terms of features. In fact, I don’t even use most of them and it does the job just perfectly!
Please note that it’s only for Mac OSX. Check it out and buy it right here!
What do you use? If you’re a Windows user, what do you use for screencapture?

Love screen flow…totally outperforms Camtasia Studio Pro
seriously. it’s amazing!
I have good things about that application on the Mac.
On the PC windows platform, I use the good old standy Camtasia. Better than Jing Project and others. I sometimes use http://www.screentoaster.com since it webased and easy to do quick video captures when not on my own machine.
Kenny
jing is definiteliy nice. i use snagit pro though.
Jing works great for Windows and Mac.
definitely!
Camtasia on my work machine.
Being playing around with an open source version of CamStudio – not too bad for basic screen capture.
definitely! sometimes that’s all you need!
Camtasia, but it’s not as cool as Screenflow.
I need a Mac -_-
haha. i love my mac.!
I was actually looking for this kind of thing a few months ago. Thanks!
p.s. http://tentblogger.com/Uses/Screenflow link isn’t working for me. It doesn’t 404 either though. dunno.
it should. try again.? very wierd.
perhaps the site was getting hit hard.
Stuff like that makes me want a Mac but alas I’m still a PC and use Camtasia + Jing depending on the application.
Agree!
get one!
no pressure…
I went to Mac from PC 16 months ago when I began my new ministry position and I won’t go back!!
I have seen Camtasia used a little in conjunction with teaching online courses. But, I’ve never used it to create video myself. I’m not sure if I’ll ever have a need for screen capture video, but I will definitely need to file this away for future reference if I do.
sweet! another convert!
Sweet! I’m actually completely blown away by QuickTime’s screen capture tool. The quality is brilliant.
nick,
definitely! i really like quicktime too, but i enjoy having video and audio as well.
Screenflow = cool.
What’s cooler is how you spaced your icons out on your dock. Show me how please!

i used that.
Hey John,
Whats the diff btween this and say final cut express?
I’m not sure, I’ve never used it…!
what is the app that allows you to customize your dock like you have it in the video? I like how they are categorized and have space between groups.
kyle,
haha. i’m going to do a screencast today about that. i get that asked a lot!
ScreenFlow is a great timesaver. I highlight some of the more advanced techniques over at http://www.macscreencasting.com/blog and there’s a whitepaper there too. No option either.
A couple of advanced techniques include using transparent png files for overlays & callouts, incorporating greenscreen effects w/iMovie, and using multiple cameras in your videos. You can even use ScreenFlow to edit regular video instead of iMovie or Final Cut Express.
It’s a great tool.
sweet! thanks for endorsement! love this!
Hi John, I found your site via MichaelHyatt.com. (I love your clean design style.)
I wish I had a Mac but I don’t (yet). I’m a PC user and I really like Screencast-O-Matic.com. Screenr.com looks cool too although I’m not crazy about the integration with Twitter. Anyway, just thought I’d chime in.
screenr is a great tool. i’ve used that as well.
thanks josh! working with michael was (and is) great!
Dude. I was just getting ready to tweet asking if anyone had a recommendation for this kind of software before i hit the share button I saw your tweet. Your timing was awesome. Thanks this is just what I was looking for.
awesome! i freakin’ love this app!
