John, looking forward to seeing what you write on this topic. I definitely think more and more people are recognizing the importance of good search rankings and that they don’t just happen by accident. That’s why we’ve been doing the DIY SEO series on http://ChristianSEOGuys.com

One big topic that seems to be missing from your list is keyword research. That’s one of the most important aspects of SEO, but most people seem to overlook it.

    • John Saddington June 15, 2011 at 8:26 AM #

Great. that list is not comprehensive (and obviously the titles show that). definitely keywords is on the list!

  13. Melanie June 15, 2011 at 8:15 AM #

Nice! I know you’re going to knock it out of the park. I have a couple recommendations in case you haven’t seen them:

    - Scribe SEO: scribeseo.com. (That’s not an affiliate link, although for all the talking about this tool that I do, I should totally get one!) Great tool for making content SEO-friendly. It works as a plugin inside WP to make sure your content is optimized. I use this when I do freelance SEO copywriting.

    - SEOmoz just came out with a new report that’s really fascinating. You probably saw it, but just in case: http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors (My biggest surprise from this was the importance of social media sharing to SEO.

  20. Loren Pinilis June 15, 2011 at 11:01 AM #

Man, I’m really amped about this.
There’s a lot out there about SEO, but very little from the perspective of a smaller blog (like mine). I’d personally love to hear about your thoughts on longtail keywords. It seems that that’s all I’ve really received, and it wasn’t really intentional.

  21. Susan Silver June 15, 2011 at 12:05 PM #

You beat me to the punch ;) Was just thinking last night about SEO and how peple forget about navigation and site structure. Usually as bloggers we focus on content but not content delivery which is also an important part of the process.

  22. Keiki Hendrix June 15, 2011 at 12:53 PM #

    Looking forward to it.

As usual you have taken something that can be rather technical for a beginner (like me) and made it simple to understand! I’m excited to see more in this series to improve my SEO :)

    You rock sir!

    • John Saddington July 5, 2011 at 11:59 AM #

You’re right john, SEO has a major role in bringing visitors to the blog, mainly targeted traffic. Moreover blog with Adsense and Clickbank goals, I think the absolute need of the traffic comes from search engine because otherwise very small conversion of visitors

  31. Paul Barstow March 3, 2012 at 2:48 PM #

A great blog series just started it whilst browsing you blog (great work by the way) and I was wondering how long should it take to get on the first page? I just wondered as I seem to have managed it in about a month for a couple of search terms, granted my blog is very industry specific but is this good work? I only ask as my SEO is based on one of your blogs cannot remember which one though and your evergreen blog inspired me to start, great work.

    • John Saddington March 8, 2012 at 9:16 AM #

it could take a while, especially if you’re in a saturated niche. but it is possible,… as anything goes on the internet.

  32. Jonny Solari March 20, 2012 at 12:08 PM #

Really can’t wait to get stuck into this later!
