Do you have them?

Challenge Type: Strategy
Time Required: 2-5 minutes (Don’t think too hard!)
Impact: Could mean the difference between success and mediocrity!

Setting realistic yet challenging goals is just a healthy practice for you and your new blog!

There’s nearly an innumerable amount of benefits associated with goal setting so I won’t list those off but as I mentioned in the video make sure you do 3 things with your goals:

  1. Make sure you have them!
  2. Write them down!
  3. Tell someone about them, perhaps a blogging buddy!

Sweet!

Would love to hear some of your goals for your blog in the comments!

  1. It’s good your friends don’t take you too seriously ;)

  2. My son has that same Elmo puppet!

Thanks for the ideas, John. 1,000 subscribers seems out of reach for me. I might have to shoot for closer to 50 or 100!

  3. By the end of the year Goals:

    Goal 1. Have 100 subscribers.

Goal 2. Respond to every. single. comment. (providing I get one sometime)

Goal 3. 10 posts per week and one every work day.

    Goal 4. Acquire 1 sponsor.

Goal 5. Make fun of bloggers who blog about blogging.

  4. Goals:
    1. Blog at least four times/week.
    2. Have at least one blog post about the kids (with recent pictures) per week.
    3. Have at least 1 post/week about what God’s doing in my heart.
    4. Have at least 1 post/week about what God’s doing in my mind.
    5. Respond to every comment posted for an entire week. (This will be the hard one to keep, but I think it’s probably the most important. I want to begin to cultivate the community on our blog in a more intentional manner.)
    6. Try to convince Mike (husband) to blog once a week…we might need to start with 1x/month. :)

    Hubby’s Goals for the blog:
    1. Complete new re-design.
    2. Upgrade to Drupal 7.

So, share with us: What are your goals? :)

  5. Goals:

    1. Build up to a minimum of 4 posts per week.
    2. Create a post plan including a list of potential topics for brainstorming purposes.
    3. Create an environment where readers WANT to comment b/c the discussion is THAT good.
    4. Shoot for 50 subs first and then on to 100 (that should take a while)
    5. Continue to customize and refine STANDARDTHEME 2.0 (shameless kissing up)

        7. Seek followers and follow others my self.
        8. Continue planning and learning.

  7. Hey John.

I really love your goals – they are very sensible.

This is something that I am really going to have to think about and take into consideration – especially as I am blogging on about 5 different blogs right now! (Luckily I have someone helping me on 3 of those!)

  8. My blogging goal:
Work out WHY I want to blog.

This one has been haunting me for years. Argh!

  9. Dewde is my new hero. Elmo AND the cookie monster! Dang.

John, How good do you trust alexa.com in order to get and compare websites statistics?
Any other ranking or stats services you trust?
    Thanks!
