I had forgotten about this sweet little WordPress Plugin but was reminded the other day as I attempted to add a tweet into my blog post.
Historically on this blog I’ve posted screenshots of the tweet (like right here) but I remembered that there is actually a much better way to pull this off!
As you can see above (and below) I can have much more engaging (and interactive) tweets right in my blog post:

Pretty neat, right?
As you can see we have the actual link to the tweet as well as clickable links including hashtags and other twitter members!
What plugin does all this with a little shortcode? Blackbird Pie!
Install it and then you’ll see a new little icon in your blog post admin panel:

A neat little icon!
Clicking that will open up and little overlay screen and you can copy in a direct link to a tweet or the actual tweet ID:

As simple as copying and pasting...
Or, you can even search for a tweet directly and then just click the right one!

Wow, that was easy!
I’d highly recommend adding this feature to your blog so that you can get the most out of Twitter!
Love simple things like this that can bring lots of value!

Sweet! That’s a very cool tip, thanks John
sure thing rob!
That’s cool, John! Thanks for pointing it out.
sure thing paul!
Just installed this the other day! Love it!
word!
Thanks John for the tip. I’m gonna love this plugin.
it’s pretty darn sweet.
I’ve been using Blackbird Pie on my blog for some time, and I love it. Great plugin!
it is a great plugin.
Awesome, John!
Thuis is definitely a must have WP plugin for those their tweets in the blog post. The thinh I like most about this plugin it can grab our Twitter background and search our tweets.
This plugin is totally cool!
good stuff!!!
Cool…I’ll have to check that out!
Nice!
i thought so.
Thanks for sharing John!
of course. my pleasure!
That’s pretty cool.
slick. i like slick things.
Just added it! I saw you tweet about this the other day, favorited the tweet so I wouldn’t forget about it, and just as I was writing my newest blog, realized I needed it now! Thanks John!
ah, you use favorites a lot? i’ve never really gotten used to favoriting…
I favorite tweets that I want to follow up with later and then forget to go back and look at them. :/ #mefail
I usually have to scan through my twitter feed quickly and don’t always have time to follow through and click the links. So what I do is favorite them and go back later when I have time to fully explore the links. Kind of like a tweet instapaper.
oh. i like that.
Cool plugin!
i’m digging it!
Got it! Cool.
have you used it yet?
Nope…not yet.
Thanks for sharing this John! Great tool.
Does anyone know the policy on posting tweets from other people that you didn’t RT? Example: leadership expert “Sam” says something you really want to share in a blog post. Is ok to link to his tweet using BBP?
hmm. don’t even know… it’s “public domain” if it isn’t a private tweet… so i think it’s ok.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I uploaded this plugin but I don’t see the blackbird icon in my blog post admin panel. As a matter of fact, I don’t see most of those options in my admin panel. help!
try disabling it then… that’s odd. where do yo uhost? do you have any caching plugins?
I deactivated it and still no change. The buttons on the admin panel that are there say “close tags”, “more”, and “code” – things like that. And the visual and html tabs aren’t there anymore either. I’m using Dreamhost and I have the wp super cache plugin but it’s not activated.
wow… that is really weird. it seems like the problem is bigger than the plugin… any other plguins you using?
the active ones are Askimet,Praybox, your add RSS footer, and your social widget
hmm. i don’t think those should prove to be incompatible… haven’t used praybox though. disable that/
disabled – no change.
wow. bran, i’m not sure what to say. it’s not one of my plugins so i can give only very limited support….
John,
Thanks for bringing up tweets from the archives. Missed this one, and it’s great.
definitely!
