unfollow-me

I love it when two grown adults come together and somehow are able to speak intelligently and maturely about something so simple as Twitter.

The follow / unfollow thing is so trite and in the end who cares, but it’s so rare for people to be not offended when you unfollow them, for whatever reason.

Occasionally I get glimpses like this where I can see a ray of hope for relationships and online media.

  1. Have to say, great post title! Got me to click the link in the tweet right away.

  2. We over complicate things for ourselves. Follow and unfollow should be quite acts. Good reminder John!

  3. This is a great post, John. It made me laugh. I tend to do Twitter chats for work. They’re a nice way to connect but they make me active at certain times. I’ve given contemplative, quiet Twitter friends permission not to follow me for that very reason. Thanks for today’s smile.

  4. Great post John. I agree, after awhile the social aspects online sometimes take on an elementary school feel – “he/she doesn’t want to be my friend anymore”, when in fact the relationship may have been ‘acquaintance’ at best, stalker at worst. :) Thanks for pointing to the mature way to view this. Off-topic – what app are you using in the screenshot? Thanks again.

  5. It is very rare these days for people to not get offend over all this kind of stuff. I can remember when Facebook was did an update and are my friend still really friends…I was like seriously get over it.

If I like I will talk to you with or through whatever way I want or can.

  6. I really don’t understand why people feel the need to publicly announce when they are unfollowing people for some reason. It makes me feel like we’ve reverted to elementary school and we’re standing up in front of class saying: “Hey everyone! I’m not friends with him anymore. Just wanted you all to know!!”

  7. Great title for a timely post. There’s just too much in life to grow irritated over something like unfollowing.

  8. Timely indeed. I have yet to find the bravery to “unfollow” a few who seem to tweet every ten minutes. It’s more an unclogging thing.

  9. Hehe, appropriate title for a timely post.
