Archives For WordPress Plugins

With the recent release of Gershwin Update (WordPress v3.2) we’ve experienced a significant update the core admin UI, which I’ve found is very visually appealing (don’t you agree?).

There are more than a few blogs that have showcased and shared their thoughts on the new admin panel so I won’t go into the changes in-depth although I would like to mention that the full-screen focus-mode is killer.

In fact, I’m using it right not to just test it out! I can imagine that a lot of people might opt to use this out of the box instead of the many focused-writing apps that are available (my favorite being iA Writer).

Although I still counsel people not to write in WordPress directly since you still risk the potential of losing your writing efforts and data.

Simple!

A few of you have asked for this WordPress Plugin that simply reminds the user to get one of those fancy Gravatars as they comment!

I personally remind people almost daily to get one but sometimes it just doesn’t work – you have to have something there right for them to review!

So that’s that! It simply adds a line below the Submit Comment button to get that Gravatar.

Of course the reason you’d want them to do this is to visually identify your commenters as well as increase social engagement (like via JetPack WordPress Plugin).

Download it here!

Let me know if you have any questions!

A simple call to action at the end of your comment field.

Sometimes the most simple additions to your blog are the absolute best – no need to get overly complicated, right?

For example, I’ve been running a small call to action at the end of the comment box here (see image above or check out any post) on TentBlogger to help remind people that the should Subscribe via RSS or even the Newsletter if they feel like it!

I had the pleasure of guest posting over at Smashing Magazine today covering a topic that is near and dear to my heart: WordPress!

It was a 4,000+ word post which highlights how some of the better known WordPress Theme Shops use a model of service and support to engage their existing audience as well as attract new clients and buyers.

Not pretty to look at... but super important for your blog!

[This post is part of the Ultimate Guide to Launching a WordPress-Powered Blog series.]

I’ve already covered in depth the value of creating an effective Sitemap for your users (via WordPress) so that they can navigate your site better.

But, there is a difference between creating a Sitemap for your users and a Sitemap for search engines, and the latter being just as important!

Essentially a sitemap for search engines is a way of communicating to them about pages within your site and blog that they might not know about directly. Their robots will crawl your site to the best of their abilities but sometimes they simply “miss out” on pages that you definitely want them to know about and index!

These sitemaps are generally in an XML format (a type of text file format) and list the pages of your site and blog. Submitting one to Google (and the other search engines) is something you should definitely do!

Here is a general list of benefits:

Simple and elegant.

Have you ever wanted to show a simple list of the top commenters on your blog? Well now you can with this very simple, lightweight, and customizable WordPress Plugin.

There are two significant reasons why this might be something you want to do for your blog:

  1. It shows your appreciation for your community since you list the top commenters and links back to their properties!

Neat, right? Here are a list of the features:

Add content, links, or whatever else at the end of each post in RSS!

Have you ever wanted to add a little bit more to your RSS feed after each post? I know I have!

In fact, I already do as you can see in the image above (and then check out my RSS directly as well)!

Well with this simple and intuitive WordPress Plugin you can! We’ve created this plugin so that you can easily add more content to the end of each post in your reader’s RSS feed such as:

  1. Links to other blogs and web properties.
  2. Links to other content, blog posts, and more.
  3. Links to affiliate marketing, products, services.
  4. Or just some simple copy that says “Thanks!”

The sky is the limit here! But there’s one more neat feature that you need to know about…

Strategic call-out that's intelligently designed for stupid RSS readers...

Don’t lose a video viewer via those pesky RSS Readers again!

Your content is important – every single piece of it! This includes both the content via copy as well as the rich media that you create day in and day out! There should be nothing that’s stopping your faithful readers to consume and engage with your content, right?

Unfortunately something that’s severely lacking innovation (and significant advancements) is in the area of RSS feed interpretation via RSS Readers. In other words, many of the RSS readers that your community is using (like Google Reader and many others) do not read your feeds with 100% accuracy, especially when it comes to formatting and rich media like video.

The problem? You’ll be scanning through your RSS feeds and suddenly you’ll see a huge blank spot in your reader where a video should be. Or you won’t even see a video at all! Doh!

Here’s a good example (from one of my personal blogs no less!):

Wow... looks like I need to optimize!

I’m more than pleased to announce the release of one of the most simple (and effective) WordPress Plugins that we’ve released to date!

The goal of this plugin is to be the easiest and most intuitive optimization process for your blog. It simply optimizes your WordPress MySQL database with a click of a button and then lets you get back to writing!

Why use this plugin? Simply because your database needs it! Not only does your database need it once but it needs it continually as you create more content and as your database (the place where all your data is stored) gets full of unnecessary information.

Think of it as a digital oil change for your blog to keep it happy and running smoothly. For those interested, here’s what it does specifically:
